Technology: The New Imperialism?

Google is in trouble with the French for wanting to digitise the world's books, according to Wired News. In the age of the Internet you no longer need a fleet of warships to be perceived as imperialist. It's the US versus Europe again and this isn't the Ryder Cup. If this one really flares up, it will be interesting to see whether the British Government has American or European sympathies.
